"Steal From The Poor" to be released November 17th
Hailing from the dark hollows of Southern Illinois, Esch delivers a raw yet cultivated sound in an 11-track debut album. Her timeless voice and virtuosity of prose are on full display in “Tonight” and “Nearer to Me,” while the tanked-up grit and echoed overdrive of “Lake Town” are reminiscent of tracks from Wilco’s “Sky Blue Sky.” The distant sound of a kick drum gives way to heartache on the up close and personal “Damage Is Done,” and with an astral hue, the title track illustrates the authenticity of her writing while invoking the sounds of Sigur Rós.
Esch’s lyrics carry a heavy load on the modern country tune “One Time Shy,” and the fiery slide and point-blank guitar leads of “Tell Me The Truth” summon a classic Muscle Shoals, Ala. style. The album achieves cathartic closure with “Colorado,” a haunting yet hopeful ballad that builds from a live room sound to an explosive finish and leaves the listener longing for more. |
“Steal From The Poor” is available worldwide November 17, 2015 for purchase on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Mp3, CD Baby, and other outlets.
